The black and white puppies were born July 20 and lovingly hand-raised by Joshua and Jenina Fortner and her family. The puppies are litter-trained, have current vaccinations, a health guarantee, AKC registration papers and a lifetime take-back guarantee.
In addition, the store has a second litter that was born on July 25. These puppies are not in the store yet, but will be as soon as they’re ready. There are seven girls and two boys between the two litters. The puppies can be reserved with a deposit.
“They will be about 10 pounds when fully grown,” Jenina Fortner said. “They make the all-around perfect house dog.”
Papillons were ranked the world’s eighth smartest dog in “The Intelligence of Dogs,” a book by Stanley Coren. The Papillon puppies are only a fraction of what the Paws-N-Claws pet store offers.
Paws-N-Claws carries pet food, grooming products, toys, bedding, pet accessories, and many other pet supplies. They also offer a large range of pets, from fish and reptiles to birds and rabbits.
“We can now order any kind of reptile you can dream of,” Fortner said, pointing to a catalog she compiled of various snakes, lizards and frogs. “After you order it, we will receive it within two business days.”
All the reptiles come with a care sheet, detailing the temperatures and food needed for optimal care. She said she is now working on a bird catalog.
A customer came into the store and bought some worms and crickets for her pet. Fortner pointed out the prepaid card she used for payment.
“These prepaid feeder cards let you come in, get what you want and leave,” Fortner said. The cards are available for purchase at Paws-N-Claws. Fortner mentioned that the cards are especially helpful for parents that want to send their child to pick up food for their pets.
Fortner encourages pet owners and potential pet owners to ask about any pet that they would like to order. The store is open six days weekly, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
