He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Abilene, the son of Earl E. and Nina G. (Bunker) Rock.
Mr. Rock was a machinist for Combustion Engineering ABB Raymond Inc. after 21 years. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington. He graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1948.
She married Shirley A. Gillispie on June 3, 1951, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington; she survives of the home.
He is also survived by two sons, Michael Rock of Topeka and Raymond Rock of Ottawa; three daughters, Denise Welsh of Raytown, Mo., Marcella Vega of Kansas City, Mo., and Tina Novak of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington, with the Rev. Troy Slater officating.
Friends may call from 2 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center of Salina or the Dickinson County Hospice and sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
