State Rep. Tom Moxley has won a third term in District 68 of the Kansas House of Representatives, following voting in Tuesday’s primary election.

Moxley, a Republican, received 2,366 votes from voters in Dickinson and Morris counties. His challenger, Cal Seadeek, a Council Grove police officer and business owner, received 1,059 votes. Those totals remain unofficial until the county's canvass their numbers later this week.

Seadeek entered the race after Moxley voted to raise the state sales tax, which took effect July 1, and he said the campaign was a lot of work. He is a police officer in Council Grove and he and his wife run a hunting supplies store.

“We tried to run our campaign based on facts, figures and issues that people can look up for themselves," he said, adding he will decided later if he will run again.

Moxley, who was reached by the Reflector-Chronicle Tuesday night, wanted to wait until the numbers were in before commenting about the race.

Due to a problem with a counting machine, Dickinson County did not release its numbers until 2:09 a.m. Wednesday. On Wedneday morning, Virginia Moxley said her husband was working in field at a farm and could not be reached.
