He was born March 21, 1926, near Randall, the son of Willard Richard and Millie (Frestead) Reed. Growing to manhood in Jewell County, he attended local schools and graduated from Burr Oak High School.
On Sept. 29, 1963, he married Anna Margaret. The early years of their married life were spent in Jewell County before moving to Abilene in 1975. In 1990, they moved to Guide Rock, Neb., and returned to Abilene in 2000. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Margaret Reed; four daughters, Melody, Judy, Alta and Hope; two sons, David and Daniel; sister, Barbara White; and two brothers, Howard and Robert Reed.
The family has chosen cremation. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Danner Funeral Home, with inurnment following at the Prairiedale Cemetery north of Talmage.
