SOLOMON — In just the third season, the Solomon High School cross country team will be one of head coach Kjell Nordgren’s youngest team to date.

The inaugural season in 2016 he had five boys out for the team. Last year there were seven boys and a girl running in the fall schedule. Five of those seven boys were seniors so coach Nordgren is in rebuilding mode.

Pre-season opened with three returnees for the Gorillas and the coach expected to have a roster of six to 12 runners by the first meet.

Junior Zach Hare returns as the most experienced boy to the team. Hare’s best 2017 time was 21:26. Sophomore Matthew Ford also returns.

Out for her second year is Aaliyah Smith a sophomore at Solomon. Smith’s best time a year ago was 25:00 in the 5K run.

The Gorillas open the season at Tescott on August 30.
