Karsen Loader tossed a no-hitter and the Abilene Junior Babe Ruth baseball team ran over Salina 13-1 Wednesday night.
Loader was sparkling on the mound as he set down seven on strikes and didn’t walk a batter and Salina only scored an unearned run in the third inning.
Loader, Chris McClanahan and Brady Fitzgeralds led Abilene with two hits each to propel the Bandits’ 10-hit attack. McClanahan and Fitzgeralds drove in two runs each, as did Sam Burton.
Stewart Scott had a triple and scored twice from the lead off spot. Burton walked once and was hit by a pitch on his way to score two runs for Abilene.
The Bandits scored once in the first, once in the second and then powered over seven runs in the third to blow the game open. They finished with four more in the fourth.
Braden Adams and Triston Cottone also had hits for Abilene.
Salina’s Josh Frick allowed six earned runs through two innings of work to take the loss. Abilene scored seven times on seven hits off the Salina reliever, who also tossed two innings.
