HOPE/WHITE CITY — The Rural Vista Heat football team earned its first win of the season with a 46-26 win over Marias des Cygnes Valley 46-26 in a district game Friday night.

Sophomore quarterback Dylan Worrell rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more in the Heat’s win. Worrell ran for 122 yards and junior Logan Mellen carried the ball 12 times for 108 yards and a score. Sophomore Connor Campuzano had 62 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Campuzano caught three passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns

Rural Vista compiled 290 rushing yards and Worrell was four of eight through the air for 63 yards and the two touchdowns.

Defensively for Rural Vista Campuzano and Worrell had 17 tackles each and both had three for loss.

Senior Asher Gagnon recorded a team high five and a half sacks in the game with Worrell having one. Campuzano intercepted the opponent’s quarterback three times during the game and returned the ball for 78 yards.

Gagnon had 11 tackles for the Heat with eight being behind the line of scrimmage. Mellen had eight stops, senior Michael Tate had seven and Austin Ryker had six
