Chapman’s Taylor Briggs and Aaron Modrow are preparing for a sweep of the distance races at Class 4A State Track Meet this weekend.

Both Briggs and Modrow have the best seedtime in for the 1600M and 3200M runs.

After winning the Abilene regional meet, Briggs enters the 3200M run with one of the best times in the state regardless of class. Her 11:36.93 time is the fastest in Class 4A. That time is more than a minute better than the second place time.

Briggs won the state last year with a time of 11:03.78.

In 1600M, Briggs ran first at Abilene with a class 4A best time of 5:06.90. Abilene’s Sydney Burton was second and her time ranks second in the state. Briggs’ 2018 state track meet winning time was 5:09.06. She re-set the Irish school record with her newest regional time.

Modrow has the states fastest times in both the 1600M and 3200M after winning the Abilene meet. He sets atop the Class 4A bunch at 10:03.36 in 3200M and at 4:34.53 at 1600M. Modrow is also the top seed in 800M at 2:01.62. Modrow ran sixth last year at State in 1600M (4:32.93) and seventh in 3200M with a 9:59.05.
