WICHITA – Abilene senior Sydney Burton claimed two individual championships at the Shockers Pre-State Track and Field Meet Thursday and Friday at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
Burton running in the Elite Division won both the girls 800M and 1600M. She brought home gold in the 800M with a time of 2:23.06 and she ran 5:30.38 in 1600M for that title.
Burton also ran a leg on both of Abilene’s gold medal winning relay teams in the Class 4A-6A divisions.
The 4x400M team of Beth Holmes, Abby Barnes, Savannah Stout and Burton ran 4:19.33 for the win. The 4x800M team of Bailey Rock, Holmes, Stout and Burton claimed the championship with a time of 10:35.88.
Holmes placed fourth in the Class 4A-6A 300M Hurdles with a run of 49.01. Stout finished 16th in 400M with a time of 1:05.66.
Senior Megan Anguiano ran 29th in the Class 4A-6A girls 800M with a time of 2:44,65 and Abilene’s two pole vaulters Zoe Cooper and McKenna McGivney finished fifth and seventh respectively. Cooper jump 9-0.25 with McGivney clearing 8-06.25.
The Cowboys 4x400M relay team of Christian Radabaugh, Damian Hartman, Lucas Cook and Zach Schultze placed eighth with a time of 3:42.02.
The 4x800M team finished 10th in the Class 4A-6A with a time of 9:03.69. Running for Abilene were Radabaugh, Aaron Geissinger, Hartman and Schultze.
Senior Dakotah Whiteley vaulted 13-01.5 for fifth place in the Elite pole vault competition. Braydon Surritte finished 10th in the Class 4A-6A pole vault by clearing 10-11.75.
Geissinger and Schultze ran 17th and 26th in the 2000M Steeplechase an event that included runners from Class 1A-6A. Geissinger was 17th with a time of 7:48.22 and Schultze was 26th at 8:22.42.
Schultze also ran 23rd in the Class 4A-6A 400M Dash at 55.84 while Cook finished the 200M Dash at 25.34 for 40th in Class 4A-6A boys. Radabaugh ran 25th in 800M with a mark of 2:13.64.
Radabaugh placed 12th in Class 4A-6A boys 1600M with a time of 4:57.55. Senior Austin Wuthnow crossed at 5:23.88 for 35th in the 4A-6A boys competition.
