LYONS – The Abilene Bandits Junior Babe Ruth baseball team scored 41 runs in five innings to roll over Lyons in two short-inning ballgames Monday night in Lyons.
Abilene won the opening game 22-0 in two innings. The Bandits scored 22 runs on seven hits. They were aided in the win by 13 walks issued by the Lyons pitchers and five Lyons errors.
Chris McClanahan went three for three at the plate to lead the Bandits offensively in the opener. He drove in two and scored four times. Brenton Reiff had an RBI double and Stewart Scott, Brady Fitzgeralds and Braden Wells also had hits for Abilene.
Scott drove in two and scored three times, Braden Adams walked three times, drove in two and scored three Abilene runs. Michael McClanahan drew two walks that resulted in RBI’s and he scored twice. Sam Burton walked and scored two runs while Ayden Taylor walked and was hit by a pitch to score twice. Wells had an RBI and scored two Abilene runs.
Chris McClanahan got the win in game one with a two-hit shut out for Abilene. He walked one and struck out four.
In game two, Abilene scored 12 runs in the first and added three in the second and four more in the third to win 19-1 in three innings.
Abilene smacked 12 hits in the nightcap and it received 11 walks.
Adams went two for two at the plate and drove in four runs. He walked twice and scored four times in the win. Sam Burton was three for three in gamed two and he drove in three runs. Michael McClanahan had three hits in four trips to the dish. He drove in two. Fitzgeralds had a pair of hits to drive in two. Taylor walked twice to drive in a run and Wells had a single that scored a run and he scored twice in the game. Chris McClanahan had a hit, a walk and was hit by a pitch for an RBI and four runs scored.
The Bandits improved to 12-0 on the season and will play in Chapman tonight.
