Neva Esther Heck, 94, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in Abilene.
She was born Jan. 31, 1925 near Manchester, the daughter of Charley M. and B. Elsie (John) Seely. Growing up in the area, Neva attended local schools and graduated from Manchester High School in 1941 then Abilene High School in 1943.
She had been employed as a printer by the Duckwall/Alco Company. Neva was married to Albert Eugene Heck Nov. 9, 1952 at the Abilene First United Methodist Church. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. He preceded her in death March 20, 2002.
Neva was a member of the Abilene First United Methodist Church and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. After retiring she volunteered at the Dickinson County Historical Museum and visited shut-ins from the church.
Neva is also preceded in death by her parents, a brother George Seely and three sisters Jennie Ann Sexton, Lillian Holt and Edna Seely.
She is survived by a son Alan E. (Kendee) Heck of Howard, daughter Vanda Jo (Jim) Heil of Wichita, grandchildren Seely (Brian) McCarty, Janelle (Thomas) Cooper, David (Alex) Heck, Rebekah (Dave) Hubbard, Adam Heil, Jacob (Cate) Heil and Aaron (Ana) Heil, great-grandchildren Timothy, Killian and William Heck, Caleb and Paige Cooper, Kendee McCarty, Gabriel and Theodore Hubbard and baby girl Heil to be born in August, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m Friday, June 28, at the Danner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at the Abilene First United Methodist Church with Reverend John Collins officiating. Interment will follow at the Abilene Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to Abilene First United Methodist Church or Village Manor. They may be left at the church the day of the service or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
