Funeral services for Jennie Ann Burns, age 72, of Abilene, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Reverend Justin Panzer officiating. Mrs. Burns passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at her home.
She was born July 1, 1946 in Neodesha, Kansas, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Spicer) Jacobs. She graduated high school from Neodesha and had been a longtime Abilene resident.
Jennie was a bus driver and worked for West’s Plaza Country Mart for several years before retiring. She enjoyed playing computer games, crocheting and crafts and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
In July of 1964 Jennie was united in marriage to Jack Burns in Neodesha. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her daughter Ella and husband Lyle Westendorf of Abilene, son John Burns of Farmington, Missouri, brother Delbert Norris of Neodesha, sister Mary Smith of Gulf Breeze, Florida, granddaughters Michelle and Monnica, great-grandsons Jackson, Anthony, Bradley and Abraham.
She was preceded in death by her son James on April 15, 2012, her siblings, and her parents.
Jennie’s final resting place will be in the Rose Meron Cemetery near Longford.
Her family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
