Eugene J. Rogers, “Geno”, 82, of Abilene, passed away August 9.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 22, 1936 to the late John and Grace (Dixon) Rogers.

At age 19, he joined the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars and spent many years in Germany. He retired from the army after 30 years.

Geno spent many years in the Army Reserves. He also worked at the Eisenhower Center in Abilene for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years Patricia, children Tina Davis (Bob) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Steffi Coole and Isabell Nguyen of Salina, Angie Wiseley (Luke) of Colorado, Michael Rogers (Vera) of Overland Park, Kansas and Steven Rogers of Salina, and step-children Rod Paulson (Sandy) of Abilene, Dan Paulson (Kathy) of Salina, and Bruce Paulson (Verna) of Tigard, Oregon.

He is also survived by sisters Patricia Hanson of Illinois, and Linda Luebke of Texas, 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will take place at a later date.
