David Lee Swartz, age 65, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away on June 25, 2018.
David was born on June 18, 1953 in Junction City, Kansas to Duane and May (Hooper) Swartz.
David graduated from Salina Central High School and went on to college in Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Arts.
David was a finish carpenter and cabinet maker and built houses with his father in Burlington, Manhattan and Odessa, Texas. He was also involved with renovations of Dillards Stores Nationwide. At one point in his career, he had the opportunity to work on rides and attractions at Disney World. He was a Master Diver and enjoyed scuba diving. David was talented, creative and enjoyed water color painting scenery, nature and portraits.
Survivors include his mother, May Swartz of Abilene, Kansas, brother Leland (Diana) Swartz of Lenexa, Kansas and nephews and niece Julian Swartz of St. Louis, MO, Dylan Swartz, Wesley Chapel, FL, Christopher Hargreaves, Topeka, KS and Jennifer Ellis, Goddard, KS.
He was preceded in death by his father Duane Swartz and brother Stanley Swartz.
There will be a visitation on Friday, June 29 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Londeen Funeral Home, 206 W. 5th, Chapman, KS.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery in Alta Vista, KS with Pastor David Siler officiating.
