CHAPMAN –– Larry Lee Pepperdine Jr., passed away at his home in Chapman, KS, on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the age of 48.
Larry was born September 10, 1964 in Mattoon, IL. His parents were Larry Lee Pepperdine, SR. and Pamelia Jo Pelton Parker. He attended grade school and high school in Charleston, IL, graduating with the Class of 1982. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1986, and served in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom III. He was stationed in Germany when he met Alexandra Ruth Setzer, and they were married on September 12, 1991 in Nycobin, Denmark. They lived in Virginia for six years, and then he was stationed at Fort Campbell before serving two tours in Korea. He retired in 2007, and joined his family in Chapman, KS. He worked for a contractor at Fort Riley for a brief time until his accident in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Alexandra (Alex) of their home; one son Christopher Allen Pepperdine of the home; two sisters: Bronda Walden and her husband Bryan of Charleston, IL, Robin Pepperdine of Decatur, IL; one brother Donald Pepperdine and his wife Diana of Charleston, IL; uncles, aunts, nicces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandpaprents.
A “Celebration of Larry’s Life” will be held at the Scherer Memorial Lutheran Church, West Fifth and Broadway in Chapman, KS on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 4:00 till 6:00 P.M. Color Guard and Flag Detail, from Fort Riley, KS will be held at the Scherer Memorial Lutheran Church.
Everyone is invited to join in a Potluck Meal, beginning at 4:30 that afternoon, and everyone should bring a salad or dessert; everything else will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials may be given to the Christopher Allen Pepperdine Educational Fund. Memorials may be sent in care of the Londeen Funeral Chapel, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431.
