CHAPMAN –– Audrey Irene (Houghton) Hayden, 82, a resident of Chapman, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
Audrey was born Dec. 27, 1930, at rural Republic County, Kan. Her parents were Charles Lester and Lola Valetta Bishop Houghton. She graduated from Jamestown High School with the Class of 1948. She was married to Edward Lee Hayden at the Methodist Church in Jamestown on June 12, 1949. She worked as a seamstress making patterns for civil service at Ft. Riley, and she retired after 36 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Lee Hayden on May 27, 2013 after 63 years of marriage.
She is survived by two sons: Ted Lee Hayden, of rural Chapman, and Murray Kent Hayden of Chapman; two daughters: Susan Annette Hayden of Washington, D.C., and Lisa Diane Streeton of rural Chapman; five grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Sharpe of Clyde, Madelaine DeMars of Concordia, Rosalie Grounds of Concordia, and one brother Charles Houghton of Randall.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Vivian Almond.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Chapman United Methodist Church in Chapman. Rev. Kenneth Trickle, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 18th and Republican, Concordia.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Chapman United Methodist Church in Chapman. The Londeen Funeral Chapel will be open for visitation from 1 to 4 .m. Monday.
