CHAPMAN –– Gordon Eugene Winkleman Jr., 61, rural Chapman died June 7, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.
Gordon was born June 7, 1952, at Fort Polk, La. His parents were Gordon E. and Shirley E. Taylor-Thompson Winkleman Sr.
He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1970, and after serving two tours in Vietnam, he was discharged. He worked for U.S.D. 475, and then he was a construction supervisor at Ft. Riley for 25 years. He was married to Angela K. Howard May 13, 1989, in Junction City. He had been employed at Foot Locker in Junction City for the past six years.
He is survived by his wife Angie of their home; four sons: Jeremy Winkleman of Junction City, Joseph Howard of Chapman, Joshua Winkleman of Topeka, Jeremy Howard of Chapman; three grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Ann Balderson of Wakefield, Terry Lynn Ginnie of Phoenix; and one brother Roy Doug Winkleman of Junction City. He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Shirley Winkleman, Sr., and one brother William (Billie) Jay Winkleman.
The family requested cremation, and they will have a memorial service at a later time.
The Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman is in charge of the arrangements.
