LEAWOOD –– Donald K. Landis, 87 of Leawood, Kansas formerly of the Salina and Abilene area passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Clare Bridge Dementia Health Care Facility in Leawood.
He was born July 27, 1925 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Roy M. and Bessie (Neher) Landis. He married Louise Parker August 15, 1947 in Abilene, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1991.
Donald worked as a truck driver, working for various trucking companies such as Groendyke Transport, Richardson Moving & Storage and Graves. He served in the Navy during WWII.
Donald is survived by a son, Dennis Landis and wife Carol of Leawood, Kansas. Daughter Sharon K. Brown and husband Michael of Ventura, California. Two brothers, Mike and Edgar Landis. Four grandchildren, Kristi Smiglewski, Kandi Paulin, Tysha Adams and Eric Brown. Six great-grandchildren, Austin Philhour, Katy Philhour, Chloe Philhour, Keegan Smiglewski, J.T. Paulin and Parker Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 P.M., Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Pastor Dale Engle officiating. Memorials may be made out to the Brethren Christ Church in Abilene and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
