JUNCTION CITY –– Preston W. Davis, 86, passed away Friday, May 24th, in Junction City. He was born August 6, 1926 in Woodbine, the son of George J. and Lillian O. (Kemph) Davis. Growing up in Abilene, he attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1947.
After school he entered the Army, serving in the Pacific Theater.
On March 1, 1944, he married Norma Jean Harris. Most all of their married life was spent in the Abilene area. Preston had been employed as a mechanic and did bodywork in Junction City then as a firefighter for Fort Riley until retiring in 1986.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie.
Survived by: Wife, Norma (Jean) Davis Abilene; 3 Daughters, Connie J. (Marlin) Zook, Abilen, Karren K. Schmidt and partner Leroy Johnson, Salina, Lindy L. (John) Mayes, Abilene; Son, Daniel R.(Laurie) Davis, Abilene; 11 Grandchildren and 20 Great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 29th, at the Enterprise United Methodist Church with Pastor Sue Talbot officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. Tuesday, May 28th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Enterprise United Methodist Church. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
