HERINGTON Velma M. Denver, 92, of Herington, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Herington Municipal Hospital. She was born Aug. 5, 1920, at Lincolnville, the daughter of John F. and Emilie A. (Behn) Rindt.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with Rev. Troy Slater officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Denver was a homemaker. She married L.E. Jim Denver on Sept. 6, 1943, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wichita; he preceded in death on June 18, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Ken Almes, five brothers six sisters, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Almes of Herington; two grandsons; Ryan Almes of Manhattan, and Russ Almes of Liberal; three great-grandchildren, and her sister Florence White of Herington.
