Mary Marie Bare
WHITE CITY –– Mary Marie Bare, 70, of White City, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at her residence. She was born on April 24, 1942, at Wilkesboro, N.C., the daughter of Walter J. and Zada (Bowlin) Darnell.
Mrs. Bare was a homemaker and a housekeeper.
She married Homer Dale Bare “Pop” on July 25, 1957, at Wilkesboro, N.C.; he preceded in death on July 8, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her daughter Bonnie Bush on May 27, 2002; her sister Betty Roten; and her parents.
She is survived by her son Clinton Bare of Joppa, Md.; two daughters: Alice Dowell of Wilsey, and Peggy Thompson of White City; three brothers Wiley Darnell, Pete Darnell, and James “Doug” Darnell, two sisters Ella Mae “Dude” Faw and Lucille Brown; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel with Chaplain Diane Schlegel officiating; burial will follow at the White City Cemetery.

Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Oard
WAKEFIELD –– Rudolph “Rudy” Oard, 97, died Dec. 30, 2012, at the Golden Livingcenter Wakefield.He was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Longford, to Benjamin and Mabel (Kissling) Oard
Rudolph was raised in the Longford area. He graduated from Longford High School in 1934. He married Marjorie Cherry on Aug. 17, 1939, in Loveland, Colo., and she survives of the home.
He farmed all his life and worked for the Wakefield Grain Elevator from 1952 until retiring in 1980.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie Oard, Wakefield, he is survived by his son, Terry Oard, Salina, two daughters, Sherry Bergmeier, Wakefield and Trudy Zurmely, Junction City; a sister, Bonnie Slingsby, Clay Center, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Wakefield Funeral Chapel
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Diana Stewart officiating.
Burial will be in the Rose Meron Cemetery, Clay County.
