ENTERPRISE –– Jessie I. Guzelman, 91, passed away Sunday, May 12th, in Enterprise. She was born October 28, 1921 in Abilene, the daughter of R.W. and Agnes (Duddy) Kehr.
In 1926, the family moved to Soloman where Jessie attended school and graduated from Solomon High School with the class of 1939.
On April 10, 1947, she was married to Edwin B. “Eddie” Gunzelman in the St. Andrews Catholic Church. All their married life was spent in Abilene. She had been employed in various offices in the Dickinson County Courthouse, including 14 years as Deputy Clerk of the District Court. In 1970 she went to work at Ft. Riley, Kansas, for the Transfer Point and the HQ, III ROTC Region, retiring in February of 1984.
Eddie preceded her in death February 27, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Earl Kehr and a sister, Ruth Kehr.
Jessie was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Andrews, the Republican Women’s Club and a charter member of Chapter 2137 of the National Association of Federal Retired Employees.
Survived by: 2 Daughters Janet (Jan) Robinson Salt Lake City, UT, Patricia (Pattie) Mayhew Abilene. Grandchildren Heather Leach Denver, CO; David Patrick Leach Manhattan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 15th, at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. A vigil service will be held 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 14th) at the Danner Funeral Home with visitation following until 6:30 P.M.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be given to the St. Andrews Catholic School or the Elsie Brooks Cancer Fund. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas.
