SOLOMON –– The four co-valedictorians from the graduating class of 2013 recapped what life is like in Solomon, followed by a rap by one of the students.
The four students who shared valedictorian honors were Kevin Clark, Brooke Janssen, Eddie Sandoval and Brooke Wallace.
Salutatorian was Alexis Boatwright.
The students, speaking in turns said the following:
You know you’re from Solomon if…
Brooke Wallace: “Three-quarters of the high school is gone because of a band contest the library is never a quiet place.”
Eddie Sandoval: “You use the term Solomon ‘Merica are serenaded by a rap down the hall wall.”
Brooke Janssen: “Lunch ladies tease you about eating your sweet potato puff; lines in the parking lot don’t mean anything.”
Kevin Clark: “You mistake a teacher as a student; when you make the front page of the Salina for a man in the water tower.”
Keynote speaker Wyatt Thompson told students a list of six things they should remember when going through life.
Thompson graduated from Solomon High School in 1976, and is known as the Voice of the Wildcats.
Among the suggestions, Thompson told graduate to do their work and get rid of self doubt; and enjoy process of preparation.
There were 35 graduates at Solomon Saturday.
The Solomon High School Choir, under the direction of Hannah Engelman, sale “Defying Gravity,” with a solo by sophomore Morgan Clark, and “Boondocks,” with a solo by graduating senior Jesse Roeder, and the guitar played by band director Jake Montoya.
The Solomon High School Band played the processional and recessional.
