The Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo received another award recently. The rodeo, which has been named one of the top five rodeos in its division for five years by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, was honored by the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association.
The WPRA placed Abilene third among the 51 rodeos on the Prairie Circuit for its surface.
The WPRA presented the “Justin Boot Footing Award” at its convention in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo.
“Special thanks to Ronnie Phillips and Kregg Kohman for preparing and maintaining the arena so the committee could receive this award,” said committee Chairman Jerry Marsteller. “Good job, guys
“This proves that Ronnie and Kregg’s work along with the rest of the committee’s work does not go unnoticed.”
The award is voted on by the barrel racers.
First place went to Guyman, Okla., and second place went to Coffeyville.
