Emil E. Carlson
CARLTON –– Funeral services for Emil E. Carlson, age 93 of Carlton, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Church in Carlton with Reverend Mark Stanger officiating. Mr. Carlson passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Enterprise Estates in Enterprise.
He was born December 10, 1919 in Carlton, the son of August and Daisy (Woods) Carlson. He attended Carlton Grade School and Carlton High School and served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
Emil farmed all his life and worked for the Carlton CO-OP for 36 years and then worked for the Donahue Corporation for 12 years before retiring. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Church, and was a past Mason. He enjoyed square dancing but loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On February 18, 1941 he married Esther Snook in Carlton. She passed away December 5, 2007 after 66 years of marriage. Emil is survived by his son Fred and his wife Kay of Hillsboro; daughters Sharon and her husband Vern Flaherty of Salina, Mary and husband David Rohrer of Hope, Anna and her husband Ed Bock of Medford, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther; brother’s Levi and Leonard; sister Edna Hobson and his parents.
Emil’s final resting place will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery near Carlton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Church or to the America Cancer Society, or to the organization of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
