Robert Leland (Bob) Hutchison passed away May 2, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 14, 1927 in Central City, Illinois to Eugene and Allie Hutchison.
He attended Central City Grade School and Centralia High School. He was active in sports.
He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.
He attended Grimm and Gorley Floral School and was a Floral Designer, first in his own Floral Shop in Centralia and later in Numerous Floral shops in Kansas. He worked at Abilene Floral in Abilene. He also was Manager of Old Abilene Town.
He loved Jazz Music and had his own band, The Pastels. Bob played the drums. One of the Band Members, Bobby Burgess went on to play with Stan Kenton, who was a favorite of Bobís.
He married Gloria McNew on Apr 30, 1950 and to this union was born 3 daughters, Laura (Ralph) Davis, Alesia (Roger) Watt, and Cheryl (Mitchell) Miller all of Abilene.
2 Sons, Bruce Hutchison (Partner Heath Green) of New London, Conn. and Chris (Tish) Hutchison of Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene. His wife Gloria died May 19, 2002 in Centralia, Ill. After the death of his 1st wife he returned to Abilene. In 2004 he met Margaret Martinitz. They discovered that their spouses had both died May 19, 2002. They were married Sept 4, 2004.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of the home, his 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 15 Great Grandchildren.
He is also survived by 3 Step children, Karen (Larry) Eudaley of Katy, Texas, Kathy (Larry) Mills of Chapman, Kansas and David (Sheila) Martinitz of Beloit, Kansas. Three step grandchildren, Ryan, Jared, and Nicholas Mills.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Martin Becker Carlson Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Britt officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. Ė 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Evergreen Cemetery in Central City, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to Dickinson County Home Health & Hospice and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
