NORTH NEWTON - Bethel College’s Logan Palenske, a sophomore from Abilene, was named second team All-Kansas Conference and conference co-Newcomer of the Year in men’s tennis.
A transfer from Barton County, Palenske plays No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles for the Threshers and was instrumental in the program’s turnaround this season. Bethel finished the regular season 11-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference – both losses coming against nationally-ranked Bethany and McPherson – after going 3-12 a year ago.
Bethel is the No. 3 seed and faces second-seeded McPherson in the semifinals of the conference’s postseason tournament Friday at Riverside Tennis Center in Wichita.
Palenske also was a nominee for NAIA national player of the week based on performances from April 1-7.
Logan is the son of Troy and Kim Palenske of Abilene.
