Glenn Lawrence House, 87 formerly of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday April 28, 2013 at the Village Manor Nursing Home in Abilene, Kansas. He was born August 26, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Newton and Grace (Horn) House.
On September 12, 1947 he married Shirley (Monger) House in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death August 4, 2006.
Glenn grew up in the Northeast Kansas City area and attended Northeast High School and Rockhurst College. He was an engineer for Southwestern Bell/AT&T and was a Deacon and a member of Noland Road Baptist Church of Independence, Missouri.
Glenn served his country with honor in the Pacific Theater, during WW II in the Marine Corps.
He is survived by two daughters, Marsha Streator and husband Jack of Independence, Missouri and Gale Whitehair and husband John of Abilene Kansas. One son, John House and wife Janet of Blue Springs, Missouri. Grandchildren, John Streator, Staci Streator Venzor, Ashley Streator Lyons and Stephen Streator of Independence, MO; Jennifer Whitehair Conrad of Cincinnati, OH, Alissa Whitehair Foth of Salina KS and John Whitehair of Topeka, KS; Drew House, Michael House and Samuel House of Blue Springs, MO and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Siblings, Dale House and Norma Miller both from Independence, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers, Samuel and Wayne House. Glenn will have a private Graveside Memorial Service at the Veteranís Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Condolences may be sent to www.martinbeckercarlson.com.
