CLAY CENTER – The Chapman softball team lost a double header with the Clay Center Tigers Monday in Clay Center.
Despite a big dish from Gillian Farley, who finished 2-3, Chapman lost 8-1 to Clay center.
Clay Center’s Holly Cooper recorded the win for Clay Center. She allowed one run over six and two-thirds innings. She struck out four, walked four and surrendered three hits.
The game was never in doubt after the first inning, as Clay Center scored three runs on a fielder’s choice and a two-run homer by Tristen Turner.
Chapman’s lone run in the game came in the third inning on a steal of home by Paige Altwegg.
The Tigers added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Cooper tripled, scoring Larren Williams to start the inning.
Morgan Beemer took the loss for the Irish giving up 11 hits, eight runs and walking six batters.
In game two, Chapman lost to Clay Center 4-2 in seven innings despite out hitting the Tigers 4-2.
Macey Langvardt had two hits for the Irish and scored both Chapman runs. Jessie Heiman had two hits for the Irish and drove in both runs.
Beemer took the loss in game two allowing four hits, two walks, struck out two.
