MARY ESTHER JOHNSON, a resident of Junction City, KS, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the age of 82.
Mary was born March 14, 1931 in Wichita, KS. Her parents were Henry Alphns and Minnie Alta Truman Watson. She attended Junction City grade school and high school.
She was married to Thurman A. Johnson on December 19, 1947. They owned and managed a gas station in California from 1961 to 1976. They had a business in Junction City, and they had rentals in Chapman, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband Thurman on July 21, 2009. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Eagles Club in Junction City.
Mary is survived by four sons: Rocky Johnson of Junction City, KS, Rodney Johnson of Chapman, KS, Ronald Johnson of California, Donald Johnson of Junction City, KS; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Phyllis Cockran of Wilmington, Delaware, and Beatrice Herron of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thurman Johnson, two daughters: Sharon Johnson and Susan Johnson; two sisters: Barbara Gillette and Harriett Sullivant; one brother John Kern.
The family will have a private burial of the ashes at a later date. The Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman, KS is in charge of the arrangements.
