WOODBINE –– Richard L. Gugler, 59, passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City following a brain aneurism. He was born in Herington, KS, on February 24, 1954.
After graduating From Chapman High School in 1972, he attended Beloit Technical School. He returned to the family farm north of Woodbine where he continued as a farmer/stockman until his passing.
Richard was a beloved member of the Carry Creek and Lyona communities. He was an active member of the Lyona United Methodist Church, the Woodbine Lions Club, the Chapman FFA Alumni, and past board member of the Alida-Pearl COOP. He enjoyed attending Chapman High School football and basketball games and spending time with his friends and family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold and Lovene (Brehm) Gugler and a brother Ronald Gugler. Survivors include a brother Lyle and wife Georgia Gugler of Shawnee, KS; a sister Leuita and husband Bob Meyer of Mound City, KS; a sister-in-law Marilyn Gugler of Emporia, KS; three nephews: Neal Gugler, Lance Meyer, Chris Gugler, and three nieces: Marsha Worthen, Lori Potts, and Kim Gugler and seven great nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at the Lyona United Methodist Church, 1850 Wolf Road, rural Junction City on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Carol Ramey officiating. Burial will be in the Lyona Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the Lyona United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd Street, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
