TOPEKA –– Glen Keith Graham, age 90, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Abilene, KS, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 in his home at Drury Place Retirement Apartments.
Funeral services for Mr. Graham will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene, KS.
The Reverend Shane Britt will be officiating.
He was born September 3, 1922, the son of Warren and Anna (Shearer) Graham. Glen graduated from Enterprise High School. He served his country in the United State Army during WWII in the European Theatre where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
Glen was a farmer as a young man. He then worked for Shouse John Deere Implement Co. in Abilene and retired from Vacu-Blast in Abilene.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Abilene. He enjoyed collecting toy Lionel trains and John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed rock hunting, reading Kansas history and searching for Native American Indian arrowheads in the Abilene area.
On October 1, 1949 he married Phyllis Ellen Root in Chapman, KS. She survives at the home.
He is also survived by his daughter Cyndi (Barry) Hockenberger of Topeka; sons Don (Patty) Graham of Abilene, Larry (Andrea) Graham of Topeka; three grandchildren Michael (Felicia), Taylor, Nicholas; and two great grandchildren Malcolm, and Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his brothers Dale and Daryl Graham, and his sister Iris “Peg” Marshall.
Glen’s final resting place will be in the Indian Hills Cemetery in Chapman, KS. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. Memorial contributions in honor of Glen may be sent to the Drury Place Retirement Apartments at 4200 SW Drury Lane, Topeka, KS 66604.
