Gene A. Schlesener, 74, of Herington died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the Herington Municipal Hospital in Herington.
He was born Aug. 1, 1938, on the family farm in the Shady Brook Community near Herington the son of Reynold and Vera (Longhofer) Schlesener. He attended the Woodbine Grade School and graduated from the Woodbine High School.
He served in the United States Army Reserve and was the owner of Schlesener Construction and farmed.
On Feb. 26, 198,1 he married Patricia Murray in Blackwell, Okla. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his sons Bill Schlesener of Hillsbough, N.J., Phil Schlesener of Manhattan, stepson Michael Morgan of Herington; step- daughter Jane P. Morgan of Dallas; sisters Debbie of Herington, Patty Fells of Herington, Deloris Farres of Salina; one grandchild; five step- grandchildren; and two step- great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Schlesener, step-daughter Laura Morgan, and his parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herington with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating.
Cremation is planned. There will be no visitation.
