HERINGTON –– Lucile M. Spaulding, 93, life long resident of Herington, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Herington. She was born Dec. 16, 1919, at Shady Brook (north of Herington), the daughter of Gustav G. & Olga (Will) Kandt.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating; burial was at the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Spaulding was a homemaker. She was a legal secretary for Wm. Alward, after high school; and then was a bookkeeper for the family trucking business. She graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1938.
She married Luther D. Spaulding on Aug. 24, 1940, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Parsonage, Herington; he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her sister Olinda Rees, her brother Lawrence Kandt, and her parents.
She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Swart of Pine Island, Minn., and Kathleen Bernhardt of Jackson, Ga.; two sons: Ron Spaulding of Kennesaw, Ga., and Jim Spaulding of Pratt; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
