SALINA — The Abilene Cowboys lost to Highland Park 68-32 in the semifinals of the Class 4A State Basketball Tournament Friday evening at the Bicentennial Center.
Abilene struggled offensively scoring only two points in the first quarter and six in the second shooting 13 percent from the field the first half while Highland Park shot 55 percent.
Abilene’s leading scorer on the season, Andy Wilson, also went down with a knee injury with about a minute and a half into the second quarter and did not return.
The Cowboys will play Andale at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Consolation game.
Ottawa, last year’s Class 4A second place team, defeated Andale 73-49 in the other semifinal game Friday. Ottawa’s Semi Ojeleye set a tournament record scoring 48 points in that game.
In the girls’ championship McPherson will face NCKL champs Wamego at 4 p.m.
