Two people have been appointed to interim leadership positions at the Great Plains Theatre after its artistic director left at the end of last year.
Board president Dee Marshall said Doug Nuttelman has been appointed interim artistic director, while Michael Hernandez has been appointed interim executive director.
“Both men are working very hard, both men are doing an excellent job,” Marshall said.
Former Artistic Director Marc Liby announced his resignation in October, and had expected to stay through August of this year. However, Liby decided to leave at the close of the show in December, Marshall said.
The board will be advertising to fill Liby’s position, but a specific date has not been set to fill the position.
Nuttelman said the theatre will keep its formula of education, cinema, and seasonal shows. He said staff will refocus on those.
The theatre will continue presenting shows from June to December.
Nuttelman attended auditions in Memphis, St. Louis and Kansas City earlier this year to look for new talent for the GPT stage.
