Orville “Neal” Stover, 77, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Valley View Senior Life Health Care Center in Junction City. He was born March 10, 1935, at Winfield, the son of Orville E. “Buck” and Katherine L. (Gallagher) Stover.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington, with Pastor Chris Schultz, officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Stover was employed as a machinist at C. E. Ersham/ABB Raymond for 33 years. He was awarded a machinist degree, signed by Gov. Robert Docking in 1968. He worked as a police dispatcher and volunteer firefighter many years for the City of Herington. He worked as a custodian for USD 487 retiring in 2005. He graduated from Herington High School in 1954.
He married Katherine A. Woodward, April 11, 1958, at Herington. She survives of the home. Survived by two daughters, Penny Anderson and Tracy Parks of Herington, two sons, David Stover and Danny Stover of Herington, eight grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter Robin Stover, grandson Patrick Anderson, and his parents.
