CONCORDIA The Chapman Fighting Irish boys basketball team lost to Concordia in the first round of the 4A Sub-State Tournament 54-44.
It was a great effort by our boys last night. Zack Heiman scoring 27 points and Logan Lehmkuhl with 9 points. We had answers for everything they threw at us, said Coach Tony Ingram following the game.
The major difference in the game was at the free throw line as Concordia connected on 12 of 19 attempts while Chapman never made it to the free throw in the contest.
Chapman had a six-point lead three times in the first half but could not pull away with Concordia at the charity stripe knocking down free throws.
I am proud of our players for playing so well in their last two games of their season. It showed their work ethic and never say quit attitude, coach Ingram said.
Our seniors have been tremendous leaders not only in basketball, but also in other sports and most importantly in the weight room. We will miss their leadership and hard work ethic, concluded coach Ingram.
