LINDSBORG –– Colby Crank, Aaron Garcia, Colt Rogers, and Courtney Strauss will represent Bethany College at the NAIA National Wrestling Tournament on March 1 to 2 at the Jacobson Exhibition Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Crank, Hutchinson, was fourth in the nation at 157 last year. He is currently ranked no. 15 and won an at-large bid this year by taking a medical forfeit and placing fifth at Regionals.
Garcia, Coolidge, Ariz., makes his first appearance at nationals. He beat the no. 3 nationally-ranked wrestler at 133 in the semi’s last week.
Rogers, Smith Center, Kan., is a two-time regional runner-up at 133 and a two-time national qualifier.
Strauss, Enterprise, is a two-time national qualifier and placed fourth at Regionals at 149.
Twenty-four teams have four or more going to the tournament but Bethany has the most Kansas wrestlers going to nationals of the three in-state NAIA teams. They will be fighting for top 16 so they can qualify for National Duals next year.
The Swedes team are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 20 Coaches Poll.
The format for the National Tournament are individual championships in ten weight classes and team championship based on individual wrestler finishes. Double elimination format and the top eight wrestlers in each weight class earn NAIA All-American honors.
