TWO POINTS — Thomas Harold, a Hope high senior, goes to the basket against two Northfield Liberal Arts Academy-Wichita defenders in a boys’ varsity basketball contest Friday night at Hope. The hosting Lions lost, 57-55, and fell to 8-11 for the year. Hope trailed throughout the contest before gaining the lead in the closing minutes. However, NLAA’s James Elder gave the visitors a 57-55 advantage when he hit free throws with 4.7 seconds left in the game. Hope in-bounded the ball and Trevor Hostetter drove down court, executing a pass to Landon Cook. Cook squared up and attempted a three-pointer, which fell short as the closing buzzer sounded. Hostetter paced Hope with 20 points, while Cook tallied 14 points, including four treys. NLAA’s Quentin Zimmerman led all players with 23 points. The Lions will host their last game of the regular season Tuesday against Peabody-Burns. Hope is then slated to enter Class 1A Sub-State Tournament play at Tescott next week. (Photo by J.R. Sparke)
