SALINA –– Bill Mitchell, 87, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 After fighting a long hard illness.
Bill was born on July 9th, 1925 in Herington, KS. to the late William (Bill) and Jessie (Smalley) Mitchell of Herington.
Bill has been a long time resident of Salina since 1952, when he married his wife, Nancy (Butcher), Sept. 5th, 1953. Bill and Nancy have three children; Keith (Joanna) of Tulsa, Ok. Julie (Kelly) Carlson of Salina and Lynda (Jeff) Irvine of Salina and one granddaughter; Madyson Irvine of Salina.
Bill and Nancy would have celebrated 60 years of marriage Sept. 5th, 2013.
Between 1952–1962, Bill drove the City Bus for Enoch Harris. He continued to drive the athletic bus for area schools thereafter. 1962-1987, Bill worked for the Salina Street Department, where he retired after 25 years.
Bill enjoyed going to church at the First Baptist Church where he was a long time member. Member of the Good Sam’s Organization and member of the Salina Sam’s.
Bill loved camping with his friends of the Salina Sam’s, spending time with his wife and making memories with his children.
Bill is preceded in death by his only brother; Charles Forest Mitchell.
Continued survivors include Charlie’s wife; Norma Mitchell of Overland Park. Their son’s; Steve and Scott Mitchell and their families of Overland Park.

Visitation will be Wed., Feb. 13th from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.
Celebration of life will be Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina. Interment will take place immediately following at Roselawn Memorial Park
Memorials will be made to the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Ave., Salina.
