Leon H. ‘Lee’ Kohman

Leon H. “Lee” Kohman, 60, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. He was born Aug. 21, 1952, in Salina, the son of Henry Louis “Hank” and Marie Alice (Snider) Kohman.

Growing up in the Farmington Community south of Abilene, he attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1971. After high school he joined the National Guard as a tank mechanic.

On Feb. 4, 1977, he married Susan Karns, later divorcing. He was a farmer/cattleman in the Farmington Community all of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ed Legg. He was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery Board, Dickinson County Cattle Producers, Abilene Elks Lodge and the Newbern Wide Awake 4-H Club.

He is survived by: two daughters, Shelly Kohman, Overland Park, Kan., Jana Kohman (Trevor Horton);, Evansville, Ind.; two sons Todd Kohman, Abilene, Kan., Scott Kohman, Abilene, Kan.; a sister, Donna Legg, Cimarron, Kan.; two brothers, Dan (Dorothy) Kohman Abilene, Kan., and Tim (Dawn) Kohman, Abilene, Kan.; Companion, Linda Hawley, Abilene, Kan.; Linda’s children, William (Kristi) Hawley and Sean Hawley; and Linda’s grandchildren Briana Hawley, Alexis Jenne, and Tori Jenne

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery.

A vigil service will be held 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Danner Funeral Home with visitation following. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Dickinson County 4-H Foundation. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home P.O. Box 758 Abilene, KS 67410.
