Three Herington residents were recognized for their contributions to their community during an annual Tri-County Area Chamber of Commerce banquet and awards program Monday night in Herington. Colgan Powell (left), a student at Herington High, was the recipient of the 2012 Young Citizen of the Year Award. Mark Strand (center) and his wife, Elva, were honored as 2012 Citizens of the Year for their fund-raising efforts to benefit numerous causes in and around Herington. Elva Strand was unable to attend the program because of illness. The Rev.
