The Annual Howl-O-Weenie Spooktacular featuring hayrack rides, free hotdogs and two new attractions will be held Friday in Old Abilene Town.
This year, two hayrack rides will be offered beginning at 6 p.m. The Lionís Club of Abilene will also be cooking free hotdogs beginning at 6 p.m.
A new addition this year is the Howl-O-Weenie train ride. Trains will leave from the Abilene Smoky Valley Train Depot, 200 S.E. Fifth St. Tickets are $10 per person, regardless of age and can be purchased in advance by calling 785-263-7266. Tickets can be purchased the evening of Howl-O-Weenie, if any remain. Train times are 6 and 7 p.m.
Also new this year is Trunk or Treat that will allow vehicles to park along Sixth Street and pass out candy from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
A costume contest will start at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all ages. Costumes must be self-contained and G-rated. The costume contest participants will walk and participate in the candy parade. The pet costume contest will begin at 7 p.m.
The great pumpkin hunt that will take place at 8 p.m. Bring a flashlight to hunt for Howl-O-Weenie eggs after dark in the field just east of Old Abilene Town.
