William Charles “Bill” Knopp, Jr., 83, Salina, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at his home. He was born July 13, 1930 near Abilene, Kansas to William Charles, Sr. and Marcella (Westrup) Knopp. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. On May 25, 1955 he married MaryAnn Biesecker in Abilene, Kansas. For thirty-five years, he worked as a mechanic for Sellers Tractor Co. (formerly Salina Tractor Co.)
He was preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnn; an infant daughter, Patricia Knopp; his parents; and three brothers, Orville, Leo, and Grant.
He is survived by two sons, Dwight Knopp and wife Edie, of Salina and Max Knopp of Winfield, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Taylor Knopp, Harrison Knopp, Amanda Jones, and Samantha Elsasser.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Abilene Cemetery, Abilene, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the Relay for Life or the Wounded Warriors Project.
