The road has not been kind to the Chapman Fighting Irish as they fell to the Clay Center Tigers 27-6 in a North Central Kansas League matchup Friday.
Clay Center used a semi-balanced attack against the Irish as the Tigers gained 110 yards through the air and rushed for 160.
Five different Clay Center players were involved in scoring for the Tigers. Senior quarterback Kody Gregory threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to Cole Hagan.
Ricky Huse, Baylee Easterberg and Gregory had rushing touchdowns against the Irish.
The Irish defense held the Tigers in check during the first half but trailed 7-0 at the intermission.
The Tigers came roaring out of their locker room and scored 20 points against the Irish in the third quarter.
Chapman had 169 yards rushing led by Logan Lexoxs 16 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown. Robert Walsh ran for 62 yards on 15 carries and Bryce Winters added 14 yards on four carries.
Winters was two-for-nine passing for 31 yards with both passes being caught by Gavin Canaday.
The Irish fell to 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in the NCKL while Tigers advanced its record to 4-1 and their league record to 2-1.
