An annual gala that provides free breast cancer screening is slated for Oct. 11.
HOPE Lives is an annual evening gala event hosted by Holm Automotive. The fifth annual event will take place at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall, 311 S. Buckeye Ave, Abilene. Proceeds from the gala provide free screening mammograms and mammography services to uninsured in Dickinson County.
Tickets are $15, including ticket to the event, commemorative bracelet designed by PlaneJanes and a raffle ticket to put toward one of the door prizes.
The evening will be hosted by Brenda Holm, chair of the HOPE Lives committee, along with Renae Veal, Tara Berger, Diane Wyatt, Jennifer Elliott and Michelle Holm.
The gala begins at 6:15 p.m. when the doors open to an evening of fellowship and fun. Additional drawing tickets will be available for purchase as well as silent auction items to bid on.
Representatives from many local organizations will be on hand to answer questions and assist with information relating to early detection, fighting breast cancer and living as a survivor.
Dr. Wendy Dinkel and Dr. Heather Bloesser, two of Abilene’s newest physicians, will be speakers at the gala.
Local cancer survivor Barbara Livengood will also speak to her experience and journey with breast cancer.
Tickets can be purchased from any HOPE Lives committee member or at Holm Automotive. Less than half of the tickets remain.
