The undefeated Solomon Gorillas dominated the Mustangs of Sylvan-Lucas 72-20 in a game that was called at halftime due to a 45 point rule in Kansas High School football.
Solomon racked up 352 yards of offense in the 24 minutes of action. The Gorillas used a rushing attack led by Mark Alyward with 17 carries netting 188 yards and four scores. Mason Demars added 137 yards rushing on 17 carries and two touchdowns for Solomon.
The ground game was working so well for the Gorillas, quarterback Colton Shirack only attempted 4 passes, completing three for 17 yards and a touchdown on the night. The Gorillas also scored two defensive touchdowns on interceptions by Kord Hilbert and Demars.
Solomons defense limited the Mustangs to minus eight yards rushing, however quarterback Collin Herold was good on 14-of-45 passing attempts for 245 yards and three scores. Nick Lawson was the recipient of Herolds three touchdown throws and had 183 yards receiving.
Chase Fiske scored the final touchdown of the night for the Gorillas on a one yard carry with 2:51 on the clock.
Solomon takes its 4-0 record on the road to Lincoln on Oct. 4.
