The Abilene City Commission approved four items Monday, including a Memorandum of Understanding to allow a beer garden during the Championship Demolition Derby.
Two commissioners, Mayor John Ray and Brenda Finn-Bowers, were absent from Monday’s meeting, as well as City Manager David Dillner.
The commission also allowed the rezoning of 1614 S.W. Second from highway business to residential use. A single family home is expected to be placed there. The owner is Harold Daniels.
The commission also endorsed the continued use of certain federal criteria used to designate critical access hospitals in the state. That would allow Memorial Hospital to continue to provide healthcare services. That will be forwarded to federal representatives.
The commission also affirmed the sale of land to Charles and Doran Clemence.
The Commission acknowledged Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week with an official proclamtion.
