Audrey Kay Root, 80, Chapman, died Monday Sept. 16, 2013.
Audrey was born Sept. 30, 1932 at Wells. Her parents were Frank August and Hazel A. Kay Sommers.
She was married to Kenneth Raymond Root on July 28, 1951 at the First Methodist Church in Salina.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth of their home in Chapman; three sons: Gregg Root, Abilene, Rodney Root, Ashville, Ala., Bradley Root, Winfield; one daughter Ann Root of Lawrence; six grandchildren; and one sister Shirley Wilderman of Salina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother E. Dean Sommers and a great-grandson, Jack Vowiell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the Chapman United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth Trickle, Jr. will officiate. The burial of the ashes will be held at the Indian Hill Cemetery in Chapman following the Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Chapman United Methodist Church.
